The room had the unique ability to provide or transform itself into anything that a witch or wizard required of it at that moment in time.[3] Because of this, it was thought to have some degree of sentience. Although there were some limitations; for example, it could not create food, as that is one of the five Principal Exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration.[4]
